> that you can reach much larger groups through the physicians that you have created. It is definitely
a humbling experience to notice the difference that
your involvement in education can make to a cross
section of the society.
How would you explain the shift to information
technology? Is there no going back?
Actually we’re diiversifying into an area of interest
and this does not mean we ‘re abandoning our
traditional work. But now that we have taken steps
in this direction, we shall continue to consolidate
our presence. So in a sense, there’s no going
back. Working at the grassroots level has given us
new insights about untapped requirements that
information technology can fulfill. It is our endeavor
to employ the competitive edge that managing
information provides. With this intent that we seek
to promote IT forays in agriculture and also pursue excellence in clinical research brought about by
effective harnessing of Web based technologies.
Do you foresee any difficulties in achieving your desired goals in these areas?
Challenges will be there but certainly not any insurmountable ones. The challenge in agriculture is
penetrating to the farthest areas to make a difference when it matters most. Timeliness is the key.
Clinical research has always been the cornerstone of evidence based medicine and organizations
have invested in innovative ways of storing and managing data. Enabling their efforts with Web
technologies and customizable software is a challenge as every organization has its own unique
requirements. Here too timeliness is the key and compliance with Indian and international standards
and flexibility in defining and modifying the variables will drive acceptability of our services.
